  • EN 13300 [Paints and varnishes. Water-borne coating materials and coating systems for interior walls and ceilings. Classification] – classification standards of coverage, gloss level and wet abrasion resistance parameters for water-borne coating materials for interior walls and ceilings.
  • RYL – construction quality standard for finishing commonly followed in the EU area; describes coating materials, using generally accepted standards, for proper quality assurance in construction.
  • VOC (volatile organic compounds) – content in accordance with the European Union directive 2004/42/CE.

Surface preparation before painting

The surface to be painted must be carefully cleaned from loose or peeling material, dirt, grease and dust. Remove old chalk surface completely. Sandpaper durable alkyd substrates until they are matt and remove the dust thoroughly. If the surface is very dirty, wash it with EasyClean. Use a Fine Filler putty to fill cracks and dents or smooth the surface. We recommend using FINE-PRO FILLER as the finishing layer to even out the surface. Use Aquastop to prime surfaces that give up dust and surfaces with uneven absorption. Follow the product instructions for use.

Application

Stir the paint thoroughly before application. Does not to be diluted when used as a top coat or applied with a roller. Apply with a roller or spray gun at the temperature between +10 °C and +25 °C and relative air humidity below 80%. Apply a level uniform coat. The second coat might be needed for surfaces in a contrasting colour. When using as a primer or applying with a spray gun, dilute the paint with water in the amount of up to 5% of its volume; use the 0.017–0.021'' spray gun nozzle. One coat will generally be sufficient. Try to maintain a wet edge in the process of painting. In case the paint job is carried out in adverse conditions (draughts, the use of heating appliances, high temperature or low air humidity), we recommend using the Time+ slow-dry agent in the amount of up to 3% of the paint volume.

Care for the painted surface

Under normal conditions, the paint coat reaches its peak hardness in 3…4 weeks, after which the painted surface can withstand cleaning. Use lukewarm water and neutral or mildly alkaline detergents (pH below 9) and a soft microfiber cloth for cleaning. Do not use organic solvents. Do not use abrasive tools or detergents, stiff brushes or rough sponges. Excessive rubbing may make the surface glossy. Wipe the surface dry after wet cleaning.

Tools

Roller (pile length: 10-14 mm), airless spray gun (nozzle: 0.017–0.021'')

Tool cleaning

Wash with soap and water after completing work.

Consumption

Consumption on the absorbing surface of 8…10 m²/L, consumption of non-absorbent surface of 11…14 m²/L. For painting 1 m² s required approximately 100…150 ml of paint i, depending on the surface. Minimize waste of paint by calculating the pre-required amount using an online calculator http://eskaro.ee/products/calc/.
