Properties

Siloxane-based treatment for long-term protection of mineral surfaces against the elements.

  • Long-term protection from moisture (5-8 years)
  • Preserves the original visual characteristics of buildings made from natural and artificial stone; simplifies maintenance
  • Penetrates the surface deeply without leaving a film on it
  • Makes the surface water-repellent
  • Reduces the ability of rainwater and spatter to penetrate the surface pores
  • Protects the surface from the elements
  • Prevents dirt from accumulating on the surface
  • Good vapour permeability
  • Enhances surface thermal insulation
  • Treated surfaces accumulate less dirt and crack less
  • Colourless
Maximum permissible VOC content for the product (subcat h): 750 g/L; maximum VOC content in the product: ˂750 g/L.

  • Water permeability (on porous concrete): < 0,2 kg *h1/2/m²
  • Water-Vapour resistance < 0,14 m

Purpose

Increasing water-repellent properties of mineral surfaces; outdoor use. Façades, pavements, curb stones, stairs, sculptures, monuments, memorial stones and other decorative pieces. Not suitable for fresh plastered or concrete surfaces and the surfaces that are constantly exposed to water.

Types of surfaces

Porous mineral surfaces: concrete, aerated concrete, calcium-silicate bricks, clinker brick and fired brick, Eternit, plastered surfaces, natural an artificial stone, structural and decorative stone, including uncut granite and marble, dolomite, limestone, etc.

Quality standards

  • VOC (volatile organic compounds) – content in accordance with the European Union directive 2004/42/CE.
  • Product and service quality is guaranteed by the quality, environmental protection, occupational health and safety management system in accordance with standards ISO 9001:2015; ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.

Surface preparation before  treatment

The surface to be treated must be dry and cleaned from dirt, dust, grease, salt residue, moss, and loose or peeling material. To clean the surfaces that are very dirty or have soot, water, nicotine or grease stains use EasyClean (or wash with a 3–5% solution of soda, rinsed with water and left to dry). Pressure washing is recommended to completely remove old coating materials and persistent dirt. Mould and moss damage must be thoroughly cleaned, and the surface under it must be treated with BIOTOL Е or BIOTOL SPRAY, washed with water and left to dry. Clean reinforcement bars and other metal components from rust and immediately prime with anti-corrosion paint. Then apply the filler matching the surface, even it out and let it dry. Allow surfaces wet from rain dry for at least 2 days before applying the treatment.  Before treatment, cover any areas that do not need to be treated (windows, doors, parts made of metal, wood and other materials).

Application

Apply 1–2 coats with a soft brush, roller or spray gun. Apply the second coat 0.5–1 hour after the first one. Apply the primer on highly porous surfaces at least 3 time. Make sure to apply the product evenly from bottom to top on vertical surfaces to prevent streaking. The surface and air temperature during application must be at least +5° С, and the relative air humidity must not exceed 80%. Do not apply in the rain!

Tools

Brush, roller, spray.

Tool cleaning

White Spirit, nitro solvent.

Colour

Transparent. The initial look of the treated surfaces is restored when the product has dried. NB! Some surfaces might display slight colour changes after the treatment, so apply a test coat on a small area of the surface first

Consumption

2...5 m²/L. Consumption depends on the porosity of the surface. Perform a test coating to determine the exact consumption.

Drying time

1…6 hours at the temperature of 20 °C and the relative humidity of 65%.  At lower temperatures and higher humidity, the drying time increases. Treated materials reach the peak of water-repellent properties in 3–5 days.

Safety precautions

DANGER. May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways.  Contains hydrocarbons, C10-C13, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER/doctor. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. UFI: HC00-70S9-D002-GDWS.  Do NOT induce vomiting. Keep out of reach of children.  Store locked up. As a preventative measure it is recommended to use basic Personal Protection Equipment, with the corresponding <<CE marking>> in accordance with Directive 89/686/EC. In the case of combustion as a result of improper handling, storage or use preferably use polyvalent powder extinguishers (ABC powder). IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED to use full jet water as an extinguishing agent.

Waste treatment

Avoid release to the environment. Dispose of the contents/containers in accordance with the current legislation on waste treatment. Waste treatment methods: code 08 01 11*- Waste paint and varnish containing organic solvents or other dangerous substances; waste class: dangerous Regulation (EU) No 1357/2014.
