Machine tinting

Surface preparation before  treatment

Concrete floors. Freshly cast concrete surface must cure for at least one month before varnishing and must demonstrate sufficient hardness and low moisture content (below 4%). Remove the loose top layer (so-called lime milk) with a grinder or power grinder, and then remove dust thoroughly. Fill cracks, holes and chips with a putty meant for repairing concrete floors. We recommend taking actions to make the surface of smooth cast-in-place concrete rougher. Clean previously painted floors from peeling paint, dirt, oil, grease and dust. Before application on previously painted surfaces, make a swatch on a small surface patch to check that Floor Aqua does not have a negative effect on the old coating.
Wooden floors. The surface to be painted must be dry (wood moisture content must not exceed 18%) and cleaned from dirt, dust, grease, oil and peeling old paint. Sand the surface, especially if it smooth and dense, until it is matt and remove dust. Before application on previously painted surfaces, make a swatch on a small surface patch to check that Floor Aqua does not have a negative effect on the old coating.

Application

Stir the paint thoroughly before application. When using tinted paint, make sure to tint the entire amount of the product you will need in one container. Prime the floors with the paint diluted by 10–20%. Apply the top coating in 2–3 thin coats of undiluted paint with a short-piled roller or synthetic brush. Apply the paint, letting it dry between the coats for 5–7 hours, at the air and surface temperature between +10 °С and +25 °С and relative air humidity below 80%. Make sure to maintain a wet edge as you paint, and do not let the paint dry too fast. Paint wooden board floors along the grain. If any repairs are needed, wait until the paint has fully dried. Do not perform the application in direct sunlight or at temperatures higher than specified to ensure coating quality.

Care for the painted surface

The surface can be used in about 24 hours but will reach its peak hardness and wash-resistance in 4 weeks, so vigorous rubbing should be avoided in this period. Heavy items and rugs can be placed on the floor approximately one week after painting. Clean the surface with a soft brush or cloth, using neutral or mildly alkaline detergent solutions. Do not use abrasive cleansers and hard scrubbing brushes or sponges. The painted surface is resistant to oils, gasoline, White-Spirit, and household chemicals. The surface is not resistant to potent solvents such as nitro solvents or acetone.

Consumption

6–8 m2/L - concrete floors.
8-11 m2/L - wooden floors.

Drying time

At the temperature of +20…+23 °C and the relative humidity of 50%, the surface is ready for the application of another coat in 5…7 hours  and is fully dry in 12 hours.  If the temperature is lower and the humidity is higher, the drying takes longer accordingly.
The floor can withstand light loads after 24 hours, and peak resistance is reached in 1–2 weeks.  Do not lay carpet flooring during this period.
Do not perform wet cleaning  during 4 weeks.
