Properties

Water-borne acrylate varnish for protection of wood and stone surfaces against moisture and heat

  • Penetrates the wood very well without changing its appearance
  • Dries fast, creating a semi-matte coating without a visible film effect
  • Created a reliable barrier, protecting wooden surfaces from dirt and swell
  • Ensures that hygiene can be easily maintained in the sauna: surfaces are resistant to frequent washing and can be cleaned easily due to the wax content in the product
  • Heat-resistance (to temperatures up to 110 °C) ensures a long service life of the treated surfaces
  • Does not obstruct the natural “breathing” of wood
  • Creates a cosy peaceful atmosphere in the sauna
  • Odourless; does not change the characteristic “sauna” smell of the wood

Purpose

Types of surfaces to be treated

Wooden, wood fibre, concrete, brick and stone surfaces.

Surface preparation before varnishing

The surface must be cleaned from dirt, grease and dust. Remove the old peeling coating from previously varnished surfaces. Dampen rough surfaces, using a spray bottle, let it dry; sand off the fibres of wood raised by dampening; remove dust thoroughly.

Application

Stir the varnish thoroughly before application. Apply two coats along the grain, using a soft brush or a roller (one coat in steam rooms). Wait for 2–3 hours after applying the first coat to apply the second coat. We recommend sanding the surface slightly before applying the second coat. Carefully remove dust after sanding. The varnish can be diluted with water if necessary (not more than 5%).

Care for the varnished surface

The coating will reach its peak wash resistance in about 4 weeks: during this period, treat the surface with care until its hardness and wash resistance have reached their peak levels. If necessary, the varnished surface can be lightly wiped with a soft sponge or cloth approximately 48 hours after varnish application. We recommend using water and neutral or medium alkaline detergents (pH below 9). Do not use organic solvents, abrasive cleansers and hard scrubbing brushes or sponges.
