Types of surfaces for painting

Previously painted or newly prepared for painting concrete, plaster, plasterboard, building block, fiberboard and chipboard surface, paintable wallpaper, etc. For indoor use.

Surface preparation before painting

Previously unpainted surfaces: clean the surface, removing dirt and dust. Apply a suitable putty from the FILLER line to even out the surface if necessary. After drying, sand the filled surface to make it even and remove sanding dust. Prime filled, porous or unevenly porous surfaces with Aquastop moisture barrier. Prime the surfaces with water-borne priming paint Flat to even out the surface absorption capacity, increase the durability of the painted surface and decrease the consumption of the top coat paint.
Previously painted surfaces: the painted surface must be cleaned from loose and peeling material, grease, dust and other impurities. If mould removal is necessary, use Biotol E or Biotol Spray. To clean the surfaces that are very dirty or have soot, water, nicotine or grease stains, wash the surface with Easy Clean. Then prime with the isolating paint Objekt. Before painting durable old alkyd surfaces, sand them until they are matt and remove sanding dust thoroughly. Use a putty from the FILLER line to fill cracks, holes and uneven areas. Sand the filled surface to make it even and remove sanding dust. Prime filled surfaces with Aquastop or Tiefgrund moisture barrier to reduce porosity. Prime the surfaces with water-borne priming paint Flat to decrease the consumption of the top coat paint and improve coverage. Please follow the product application manual.

Application

Stir the paint thoroughly before application. We recommend mixing tinted paint in one package. Apply 2 coats with a roller or spray gun at the temperature between 10 °C and 20 °C and relative humidity not exceeding 80%. When using a spray gun, you can dilute the paint with water in the amount of up to 6% of its volume. Apply the finishing coat, using undiluted paint. Avoid application in draughty places and at high air temperature (over +25 °C). When painting, make sure to keep a wet edge. In case the paint job is carried out in adverse conditions (draughts, the use of heating appliances, high temperature or low air humidity), we recommend using the Time+ slow-dry agent in the amount of up to 3% of the paint volume (mix 0.33 L of Time+ into 9.5 L of paint). Please follow the product application manual.

Care for the painted surface

The surface may be washed after 4 weeks from the time of painting, as during this period it reaches its final hardness and wear resistance. If earlier cleaning is required, it must be done carefully using a dampened soft sponge or cloth, but not earlier than 48 hours after painting. After 4 weeks, the surface can be washed using a soft sponge or cloth. For cleaning painted surfaces, use water and, if necessary, neutral or mildly alkaline detergents (pH up to 9). Do not use cleaning agents containing organic solvents. To remove mould, use Biotol E or Biotol Spray. Follow the instructions for use of these products. Do not use abrasive cleaners or rough sponges or brushes. Avoid intensive spot cleaning. Strong rubbing may cause the surface to become glossy. The surface should be washed over the entire wall area, from corner to corner, from top to bottom, with even pressure. After washing, rinse the surface with clean water and dry it. In rooms where high wear resistance is expected, we recommend using silk-matt or higher gloss paints.
