Luotto Tartuntapohja Aqua

Water-based adhesion primer paint

  • Good adhesion to various non-absorbent surfaces
  • Fast-drying
  • Tintable

Colour: White

Consumption: 5–10 m²/L. Coverage depends on the type of surface, its preparation, and porosity.

Drying time: Touch dry – 1 hour; re-coatable after 6 hours at +23 °C and 50% relative humidity. If Luotto paint is used as the final finish, the painted surface should be handled with care for several weeks, as the product reaches its maximum strength under normal conditions in approximately one month.

Volume: 0,45L – 0,9L

Properties

Water-based adhesion primer for priming non-absorbent surfaces in interior applications.

  • Acrylic Primer Paint
  • Nearly odorless
  • Ensures good adhesion for the topcoat
  • Used as an adhesion primer on new or previously painted surfaces
  • Contains anti-corrosion additives
  • Can serve as the final finishing layer in areas where high wear or moisture resistance is not required
  • Tintable

EU VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content limit: subcategory i – 140 g/L. Maximum VOC content in ready-to-use paint: <140 g/L.

Gloss:
• Matt (approximately 5) according to EN 13300 standard.

Wash resistance:
• Class 1 according to EN 13300 standard.

Purpose

Water-based adhesion primer for interior use on substrates with poor adhesion. Suitable for both new and previously painted surfaces. The topcoat must be water-based and meet the specific application requirements—for example, when priming bathroom wall tiles, the final two coats should be applied using a moisture-resistant wall paint (e.g., Akzent SPA, Akrit 20). Can also be used for priming wood surfaces and reducing yellowing. Final finishing should be done with appropriate water-dilutable paints and enamels.

Types of surfaces for painting

Glass, ceramic tiles, fiberglass-coated surfaces, laminate, MDF, laminated chipboard, OSB, PVC plastic, polyurethane decorative elements, aluminum, melamine-coated surfaces, galvanized sheet metal, and surfaces painted with alkyd, powder, or catalytic paints.
Attention! The primer must not be used as a standalone surface coating in areas requiring high abrasion resistance, mechanical strength, or moisture resistance (e.g., bathrooms, shower rooms, swimming pools, etc.). For such surfaces, a topcoat suitable for the specific conditions must be selected.

Surface preparation before painting

New surfaces: The surface must be clean, dry, and free of rust. Moisture (including condensation) on the surface to be painted is not permitted. For cleaning dirty, dusty, or stained surfaces, use EasyClean. Greasy surfaces should be cleaned with a solvent (e.g., denatured alcohol, nitro thinner). For cleaning zinc surfaces, use Katto Cleaner (follow the product instructions). If necessary, use Biotol E or Biotol Spray to remove mold. Glossy surfaces should be dulled with sandpaper, and sanding dust must be removed.

Previously painted surfaces: Remove any loose paint and paint that is poorly adhered to the substrate. Glossy surfaces should be sanded until matte. Before priming, thoroughly remove dust, grease, and other contaminants. Continue preparation as for new surfaces. Follow the usage instructions of the products listed above.

Application

Stir the paint thoroughly before use. When applying, the temperature of the substrate, air, and paint must be between +10…25 °C, with relative humidity below 80%. For the first coat or spray application, the paint may be diluted with water up to 5% of its volume. When spraying, use a nozzle with a diameter of 0.013–0.015 inches. Apply with a brush, roller, or spray gun in 1–2 coats. Before applying the next coat, ensure the previous layer is completely dry. During painting, avoid moisture on the surface, drafts, and the use of heating devices (high temperatures).

Care for the painted surface

The surface reaches its final abrasion resistance and hardness in approximately four weeks. Until then, cleaning should be avoided. For cleaning, we recommend using water and neutral or mildly alkaline cleaning agents (pH up to 9). Do not use organic solvents, abrasive cleaners, or hard sponges and brushes. To remove mold, use Biotol E or Biotol Spray. Use soft sponges and cloths for cleaning. Please follow the instructions provided for all the products mentioned above.

Tools

Roller, brush, spray gun.

Tool cleaning

After completing the work, clean tools immediately with soap and water. Dried primer can be removed mechanically.

Safety precautions

Warning! Hazardous respirable droplets may be formed when sprayed. Do not breathe spray or mist.Contains 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one, 2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one, Reaction mass of 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one and 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (3:1). May produce an allergic reaction. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Keep out of reach of children.

Waste treatment

Avoid or minimize the generation of residues. Do not pour into the sewage system. Prevent release into the environment. Dispose of as chemical waste in accordance with applicable regional waste legislation. Liquid residues must be delivered to a hazardous waste collection point (paint and varnish waste containing organic solvents or other hazardous substances – waste code 08 01 11). Information about collection points is available from the local municipality or the Environmental Board. Dried residues may be disposed of in household waste containers. Empty, dry packaging should be taken to a packaging waste collection point for recycling (waste code 15 01). Before recycling, returned containers must be properly cleaned. For larger quantities, contact the Estonian Recycling Organization NGO at eto@eto.ee

Storage conditions

Store and transport in a tightly sealed container at the temperature between +5…30 °С. Protect from exposure to freezing and direct sunlight.
